The Malagasy people are the 7th poorest people in the World, Tourism is the engine of the economy but very few people make profits with the Tourism. The poorest people live deep in the countryside where there are schools built by the IDF but there is no teacher! The survey of the local people depends on the nature and the uneducated people who are starving see meat instead of a living lemur…
Madagascar is still among the richest country in the world in terms of biodiversity after Brazil even though the Island lost more than 90% of its forest during the last 200 years.
I believe that if the uneducated people will take advantage of the tourism, if they know that the forest next to their village is home to several local endemic wildlife species, they will start to protect the forest and will stop cutting and burning the trees… Only, they don’t know!!!
I am trying to promote education in the remote places. If you have a pen or a copy book to give to the children, let’s go together to where your presents are really needed.
