Tour description:
This Manambolo River tour is a tour to visit and explore the Best part of the gorge of the Manambolo River. Ole is the name given by a local boatman to 2 beautiful natural swimming pools under a small waterfall which he recently discovered when he went deep in the gorge of the Manambolo River for gathering wild honey. We went to this amazing place to see the natural swimming pools and study the opportunity to explore the highlight of the Manambolo River. It is now possible to make this Manambolo River trip after a full day visit of the Grand Tsingy to discover the biggest caves ever seen in the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park and World natural heritage which is home to hundreds of Bats and flying foxes. This canoeing tour along the beautiful gorge of the Manambolo River allows camping on sandy River bank, good photography opportunities, swims and fishing opportunities.

Rating 4: moderate: the 4 to 5 hours hike requires good level of fitness. Fitter you are, more you will enjoy your hike to the Petit Tsingy and the Big Tsingy.
Rating 5: strenuous: Full-day hikes, steep ups and downs especially if you hike to the Sportif circuit or the Broadway circuit which require a high level of fitness. The gorge of the Manambolo River is very hot, you should be prepared to temperature above 35°C.
Circuit: Tana - Fly to Morondava – Tsingy of Bemaraha - Manambolo River (2 days visit) – visit of Baobab trees – Morondava.
The visit starts from the airport in Morondava or from the hotel in Morondava
Day 1: Drive to the Tsingy de Bemaraha
235 kms, 7 hours drive including the car ferry cross and lunch in Belo sur Tsiribihina
- Meet at the Airport of Morondava then drive to the Tsingy of Bemaraha
Lunch time in Belo sur Tsiribihina the Cultural Capitol of the Sakalava tribe

Day 2: Visit of the Grand Tsingy
- Early morning start to drive 15 Kms to the Big Tsingy (1 hour drive)
- 4 to 5 hours hike in the infinite Grand Tsingy
To see: 30 Meters high cracks, forest’s canyon where lives lemurs and birds…where the flora is truly unique with its endemic and medicinal plants, caves, cathedral of rocks, the infinite view on the highest roof of the Big Tsingy…
- Drive back to the hotel for lunch, relax in the afternoon
- In the evening, hire the local guide for a nocturnal walk to see: chameleons and especially the rare Pygmy mouse-Lemurs.

Day 3: River trip in the Gorge of the Manambolo River, visit of the first swimming pool

At 2:30 PM, arrive at OLE: 500 meters walk up to the first swimming pool through water and rock (slippery when wet):
Natural sculpted swimming pool: swims, sightseeing, photography opportunities
After sunset, see the bats leaving in mass, fishing opportunity
Dinner and camping
Day 4: Full day visit of the natural sculpted 2nd swimming pools of OLE
After breakfast, you can spend the morning to swim or to fish at the first swimming pool
After a picnic lunch at the first swimming pool, you can walk up to the second swimming pool
Here, you take your time be by your own, relax and always remember that you are in the middle of limestone pinnacles of the Tsingy de Bemaraha. You are among the first tourists to set foot there
Walk back to the camping ground, Dinner and camping
Day 5: Paddling downstream and visit of the caves down the Manambolo River
After breakfast, leave the swimming pools behind and take the dugout canoe to paddle down the Manambolo River.
- At the end of the gorge, visit of the caves to see the stalactites and stalagmites
- Lunch time at the Restaurant in the Hotel in the Tsingy de Bemaraha
- Relax in the afternoon
- Overnight in the Hotel

Day 6: Drive to Morondava and visit of the Avenue of Baobabs
- Drive back to Morondava to get to the Baobab Avenue at sunset for a beautiful sunset and taking photos of Baobabs, lunch time at the Mad Zebu Restaurant in Belo sur Tsiribihina
- Visit of the sacred and the twisty Baobabs on the way; spend the sunset at the Avenue of Baobabs for sunset photographs, drive to Morondava.

Day 6: Transfer to the airport of Morondava
