Tour description:
The RN7 (National Road number 7) with the travel by train to Manakara tour includes the travel by train from Fianarantsoa to Manakara. The train also leaves from Manakara to Fiananrantsoa and the travel always offers nice views on beautiful landscapes and plantations. This South tour also gives an opportunity to get close to the local Malagasy people. With the National Parks listed in this tour, you will be able to see the Madagascar wildlife in their natural habitat. Ranomafana National Park is best for its different Lemurs and birds species. Isalo National Park is the best place to visit in the South of Madagascar with its natural swimming pools and waterfalls; the canyons are home to the Ring tailed Lemurs.
We included in this tour along the RN 7 the most convenient hotels in Ranomafana which are the Setam Lodge or Le Centr’Est Hotel. We also chose the best located hotels in Ranohira around Isalo National Park: Relais de la Reine, Le Jardin du Roy or Isalo Ranch.

Day 1: Drive from Tana to Antsirabe
175 kms distance, 3 and a half hours drive
- Drive from Tana to Antsirabe, see handicraft market on the way, beautiful landscape of the Merina tribe area, the everyday life of the Merina people.
- Visit of Antsirabe: the hot spring city with its rickshaws, semiprecious stones, lakes…

Day 4: Drive from Manakara to Ranomafana National Park
Morning visit of Manakara or walk on the Beach facing the Indian Ocean by yourselves

- In the afternoon, visit of the village of Ranomafana by your own or swim in the hot spring swimming pool
- Possibility to go on a night walk to see some species of chameleons, frogs and the mouse Lemur if lucky

Day 5: Visit of Ranomafana National Park and drive to Ambalavao

Day6: Drive to Isalo National Park and visit of Anja Park
- Morning visit of the Traditional Wild Silk factory and boutique
- Visit of the Traditional Antemoro Paper factory and Boutique, if Wednesday: visit on of the biggest zebu market of Madagascar.
- On the way to Isalo National Park, visit of Anja Park
To see: ring tailed Lemur, ground and tree chameleons, caves, traditional Bara family tomb, nice view point on the top of the rock were you can have a picnic lunch
After the visit of Anja Park, drive to Isalo National Park, possibility to spend the sunset at the famous Window of Isalo for sunset photography.

Day 8: Drive from Isalo national Park to Tulear

If you want to go to the beach to relax or to dive in the coral reef, I suggest taking a speed boat to Anakao which is in the South of Tulear. For lee time, choose Ifaty which is closer in the North of Tulear.

Optional: The round trip speed boat to and from Anakao
1- The best way to leave Tulear is to fly to Tana with Air Madagascar. Check the Internal flights at: http://www.alternativeairlines.com/Flights
2- If you have time to go to the Beach, Anakao is the best place in the South West and you can travel by speed boat to reach Anakao and its fisher’s village.
3- When you visit Anakao, Longo Vezo Anakao it is better to book a speed boat from Tulear, they will give you a round boat trip free to visit Nosy Ve Island in front of Anakao.
4- If you would like to visit the Baobab trees or the Tsingy of Bemaraha Nationa Park, you can fly from Tulear to Morondava. Please have a look at our West tours.
5- For backpackers, If you are fit enough to travel with taxi brousse, there is a departure everyday from Tulear to Tana which will save money. Check Taxi Brousse.
